about me

Hello everyone!

Who I am

My name is Jose Carlos Garcia and I am a CS teacher in secondary education and vocational training. I am currently teaching Computer Science at the IES Campanar (in the Valencian Community).

My main interests are CS education research and FLOSS (Python and OpenBSD are best examples for me). I like openness, specially in Education, Science and knowledge in general. I also like Philosophy.

One of my favourite quotes is this:

“Good ends, as I have frequently to point out, can be achieved only by the employment of appropriate means. The end cannot justify the means, for the simple and obvious reason that the means employed determine the nature of the ends produced.”

― Aldous Huxley, Ends and Means

What I use for this site

I use Hugo to generate this site, GitHub to host the source and output (via GitHub Pages).

From time to time, I will overwrite content anywhere on this site. If that’s annoying for you and are interested in previous versions of any page, since the source is under version control on GitHub, you can browse the repo history.

I haven’t configured any comments system (I don’t expect that much attention). You can contact me by any other means if you want.

Although I’m a spanish native speaker, this site is initially in English. I have a good level of understanding but not a good one in expression. So I pursue to improve my written English by practice. Please, bear that in mind.

I also plan to configure this site as multilingual since Hugo 0.17 supports it (2016-10-07). Still in my TO-DO list…

Thank you for visiting! I hope you find here something interesting to you. Let me know if you did.
